As many of you know, last Wednesday the 22nd we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the beginning of the recovery of Morillo de Tou.
Our story begins in a place that remained silent for years. Morillo de Tou was abandoned in 1963 after the construction of the Mediano reservoir, leaving behind streets, houses, and many memories. For too long, the village remained frozen in time, and in 1986 we decided to give it a new lease of life.
That year, we embarked on a project with great enthusiasm that marked a turning point. We rebuilt the village stone by stone. It wasn't an easy path, but it was a collective effort, involving both volunteers and workers, full of commitment, hard work, and the conviction that this place deserved to be brought back to life.
Today, 40 years later, we look back with pride. We are now an established holiday centre and an example of how the recovery of rural areas can create employment, boost the local economy and help to retain the population in the territory.
But beyond achievements, we want to remain true to our initial essence: never forgetting the community we came from and looking to the future without forgetting where we've come from.
Furthermore, to celebrate this anniversary, we have unveiled a new access area to the complex and launched our renewed corporate image. We are also continuing to champion initiatives such as the Morillo de Tou History Trail, which allows our visitors to learn about our past while enjoying our surroundings.
